From the well-known site in the AVA Fort Ross-Seaview, the 2013 Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard has a dark ruby color and a lovely nose of red and blackcurrants, a touch of sour cherries intermixed with herbaceousness, damp earth and spice. The wine is medium-bodied, ripe and complex. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.

Adam’s 2012 Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard is a savory, structured and complex effort that will benefit from short-term cellaring. Pepper, ground herbs, forest floor and gunpowder-like minerality all emerge from this beauty, and it has medium-bodied depth and richness, as well as chewy tannin on the finish. It should be at its best from 2016-2020.

Siduri should have held this bottle back for a year or two, because it’s tight, tannic and tough now. But they didn’t, so you’ll have to cellar it for a while. The 2007 Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard exhibits a lighter ruby hue in addition to straightforward aromas of black cherries and pomegranate, and attractive sweetness.
