More firm, angular and structured than the Cairanne Maximilien, the 2013 C?tes du Rh?ne Rasteau Cuvee Marc is 50% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre and 25% Syrah that spent 11 months in demi-muids before being bottled unfiltered. Medium to full-bodied, tight, reserved, and compact with notable tannin, it gives up lots of graphite, crushed rock, peppery herbs and dark berry fruit on the nose. It’s certainly an outstanding wine, yet it needs a year or so in the cellar to let the tannin integrate. It should be at its best from 2017-2023.
