The 2014 Brunello di Montalcino (with 35,000 bottles produced) offers an extra layer of dark cherry ripeness that comes as a very pleasant surprise in what was a cool vintage. That fruit ripeness comes from careful vineyard management in a vintage like 2014. Plummy notes are followed by summer cherry, spice and potting soil. There is a vinous, almost raw quality to the primary fruit that underlines the youth of this wine. But I also found it to be a bit sticky and heavy on the palate. This wine needs another year or two to find focus.

Ripe cherry, plum, wild thyme, rosemary and earth flavors are backed by firm tannins here. Ends with a hint of salty licorice and chewy tannins. Best from 2021 through 2033. 3,000 cases made, 1,200 cases imported.??–BS??Region: Italy / Brunello di Montalcino Select to Add
