I was impressed with the Chambolle-Musigny Derriere La Grange, a dense, sweet, rich, structured but concentrated wine that may turn out to be outstanding with another 2-3 years of cellaring. It will keep for 10-12 years. Christian and Elizabeth Amiot are to be commended for the fine work they are doing at this small, 15-acre estate previously known as the Domaine Servelle-Tachot. The wines go from strength to strength, and the Amiots hit the bulls-eye with their 1993s. All except the Chambolle-Musigny were bottled unfiltered. In contrast to so many rough, diluted, astringent, charmless 1993s, Amiot-Servelle's offerings are densely-colored, with gorgeous extract levels, fine ripeness, and plenty of aging potential.
