Even more impressive is the 2010 Brut Reserva Rose, one of the most interesting sparkling blends I have ever seen. Made from 60% Monastrell, 20% Grenache and 20% Pinot Noir and aged for 18 months before release, this dry, serious rose sparkler reveals a florescent pink color, a big, projected and perfumed nose of jammy strawberries and cherries, crisp acids and red currant and cherry notes on the palate. This neon pink wine stands out in the glass as well as one the palate. Moreover, it is a great value. Enjoy it over the next several years.
This historic estate traces its origins back to 1385. A relatively small property of 148 acres, most of it sitting on limestone soils between 1,000 and 1,300 feet elevation. The first cava ever released was in 1887. Their current releases are among my favorite cavas being produced in Spain. Moreover, they are great values that compete favorably with many French Champagne houses.
