The 1990 Chianti le Masse di Greve is a sensational example of the heights Chianti can attain. The saturated, nearly opaque garnet/purple color if followed by a huge nose of spices, roasted herbs, anise, and jammy black-cherries. Ripe, full-bodied, and rich, with moderate tannin and a structured, muscular, yet expansively rich, viscous texture, this large-scaled, super-concentrated wine should drink well for 10-15 years. Impressive!
