The 2016 Chianti Classico Le Masse di Greve is a lean, mid-weight expression that opens to a pretty ruby and garnet color. The bouquet is buoyant and bright with forest berry, wild cherry, tilled earth and blue flowers. This is an authentic and traditional wine (made with 95% Sangiovese and 5% Colorino) that plays its cards close to its chest. It never goes overboard but instead offers a correct, easy and fresh-drinking experience. This Chianti Classico has the versatility to pair with chicken, red meat or pasta. There is a point of sour fruit on the close. Some 30,000 bottles were made.

This is beginning to close up, with cherry, plum and floral aromas and flavors struggling against the tannic structure. Nevertheless, this offers plenty of sweet, ripe fruit, remaining vibrant and long. Sangiovese and Canaiolo.
