Tasting through the three cuvees of 2005, the wines exhibited more color saturation as well as more structure, muscle, and power than the 2004. The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape delivers a dark saturated plum/ruby color and a sweet nose of black raspberries, cherries, licorice, and some smoke and incense. It is medium to full-bodied, has good acidity, and moderate but ripe tannin. It should drink nicely for 10-12 years. No known American importer.
