The 2005 Bolgheri Superiore I Castagni (70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah, 10% Teroldego) is decidedly fresher and more vibrant than the Piastraia. This full-bodied, intense wine jumps from the glass with super-ripe aromas that lead to blueberry jam, cassis, grilled herbs, blackberries, minerals, graphite and French oak. The Castagni possesses gorgeous inner sweetness and firm yet well-integrated tannins, both of which contribute to the wine’s exceptional balance. This is a wonderful effort from Satta.
