The 2006 Bolgheri Superiore I Castagni is a refined, elegant wine laced with dark berries, smoke, licorice and new leather, all of which are woven together in a finely knit fabric. Mocha, spices and chocolate develop in the glass, adding further complexity. Though undoubtedly very pretty, in 2006 the Castagni doesn’t have the sheer richness of so many other wines from Bolgheri and Maremma in this vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020.
