The 2013 Barolo Bussia shows dry astringency and an evolved style that comes as a surprise given that this is a new release from Tenuta Rocca's best performing single vineyard. There is little primary fruit; instead, you will recognize toasted aromas of smoky oak and toasted almond. Even the wine's color is more garnet in appearance instead of ruby. Oak tannins give the finish a sharp touch of astringency and sourness.
