This dark ruby-colored wine could be called the poor person's Brunello di Montalcino. Made from 85% Sangiovese and 15% Alicante, Canaiolo, Malvasia, Nera, and Ciliegiolo, it is a seductive, opulently-textured, lush, fruit-driven wine with gobs of cranberry and black cherry liqueur-like aromas and flavors. Plump, fleshy, and gorgeous to drink because of the low acidity, ripe tannin, and good glycerin, it can be drunk over the next 3-4 years.
