The 1975 has consistently proven to be disappointing. Hail, much like in 1982, was again the undoing of the 1975 Domaine de Chevalier. The wine still has an impressive dark ruby, youthful-looking color, but in the mouth, it is hollow and extremely astringent, with mouth-searing tannins, and a hard, nasty finish. Perhaps this wine will exhibit more charm and fruit with aging, but I am increasingly skeptical. We all make mistakes, and a serious one I made was purchasing this wine before I tasted it. Anticipated maturity: Now-2000? Last tasted, 12/90.
