Franz Haas’s 2008 Manna is quite a departure from past vintages. Chardonnay, once 50% of the blend, has been lowered to 20% in favor of Riesling. The Manna is a beautiful, focused white endowed with gorgeous balance, finesse and an understated personality. Manna is 50% Riesling, 20% Chardonnay, 20% Traminer and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. The wine is fermented in stainless steel, with the exception of the Chardonnay, which is fermented in oak. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2013.
