Corino’s 2005 Barolo is an inviting, soft-textured wine that comes together in the glass nicely. Generous and accessible, the wine offers highly pleasurable drinking at this level. The Barolo has been helped with the addition of fruit from Roncaglie, which Corino used to bottle on its own. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2015.
Renato Corino is one of La Morra’s most gregarious producers. Though deeply influenced by his neighbor Elio Altare, Corino is one of the more experienced growers in La Morra and is really more of a transitional figure between Altare and the younger generation of producers. After dividing the family holdings with his brother Giuliano, Renato moved across the valley, where he has built a new home and cellar perched atop the Arborina vineyard. Over the years, Renato Corino’s wines have proven to age quite nicely and that should be the case with these wines as well.
