A blend of 45% Grenache, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Carignan, and the balance Syrah as well as Merlot, the 1998 Amadis spent 10 months in 100% new French oak before being bottled unfiltered. An opaque ruby/purple color is followed by distinctive aromas of blueberries, black raspberries, a liquid minerality, and toasty new oak. Elegant, medium to full-bodied, and promising, it should drink well for 10-12 years.
