The 2007 Amadis is named after a medieval knight, sourced from 25% Garnacha and 25% Carinena (70-year-old vines), augmented by 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah and 10% Merlot aged in Allier barriques for 10 months. The nose is very ripe and opulent with macerated dark cherries, iodine and a smear of blueberry jam. The palate is full-bodied with ripe tannins, layers of crisp, dark cherry and spice flavours mingling with espresso towards the structured finish. It deserves 3-5 years in bottle. Drink 2015-2023.
Rottlan Torra is a family-owned winery in the Torroja del Priorat municipality, whose maiden release was back in 1984. However, it was not until the mid-1990s that the winery really began to commercialize its wines at a higher level.
