The 2001 Hermitage Marquise de la Tourette boasts a terrific honeysuckle-scented nose in addition to sweet, spicy, textured notes of rose petals and ripe, buttery fruit presented in a full-bodied, dense, chewy format. A barrique-aged (50% new) cuvee that includes both Marsanne and Roussanne in the blend, it will drink well during its first 4-5 years of life, then close down for 5 or so years before re-emerging. Delas produces two Condrieu cuvees.
The 2001 white wines possess good aromatics, medium body, and zesty, refreshing acidity. They are not big, voluminous examples (as some 2000s can be), but are delicious whites destined to be drunk early in life.
