Delas Freres’ white wine cuvees have improved immensely under the administration of Jacques Granges. The 2003 Hermitage Marquise de la Tourette blanc (100% Marsanne) displays a slight greenish hue to its oily, light gold color. With surprisingly good acidity as well as fabulous fruit (reminiscent of almond paste), buttered popcorn, honeysuckle, and citrus oil, this deep, full-bodied, fleshy Hermitage provides a tasty mouthful of dry white wine. It should drink well young, close down around age 4-5, and re-emerge at age 10-15.
