The 2007 Valdano Aleatico Passito d'Elba Vigneto Montecristo is a richer, darker wine than the Malvina. Chocolate, mocha, spices and dried fruits are some of the notes that flow from this opulent, rich dessert wine. This is without question an extreme style, but all of the elements are balanced with remarkable harmony. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2017. This is a promising set of wines from Li Veli. It will be interesting to see what the Falvo family comes up with now that they have fully exited Avignonesi and are free to focus on their Puglia property.
