The 2015 Volnay Village, which includes two small parcels of premier cru, has a pleasant, albeit slightly rustic bouquet at the moment, with ample blackberry, raspberry and crushed violet scents. The aromas are a little disjointed at the moment, but they will be knitted together by the time of bottling. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin rendering this almost Pommard like, although it is not austere on the finish and offers plenty of chunky black fruit and ferrous veins. Uncouth? No, but bucolic in a positive sense of the word.
