The 2006 1780 is made up of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Tempranillo, 15% Garnacha, with the balance Merlot and Syrah. The wine proffers a reticent nose of earthy minerality, herbs, and a hint of black fruits. Tight on the palate and slightly tart, it is in need of at least 3-4 years of additional cellaring but even that may not cure its austerity issue.
