Maculan’s 2007 Torcolato emerges with burnished tones of orange peel, truffles, apricot jam and sweet dried herbs. It is a sensual, head-spinning wine in every way. Despite the wine’s opulence, it maintains terrific balance all the way through to the long, utterly impeccable finish. Torcolato is one of the world’s great dessert wines, with an important track record of developing considerable nuance with years in bottle. Torcolato is 100% Vespaiolo. The wine is made from botrytised fruit that is air-dried for four months prior to vinification and subsequently aged in French oak barrels, one-third of which are new. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2027. A Leonardo Lo Cascio Selection, Winebow, Montvale, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
