The 2012 Blanc is a blend of Garnacha Blanca, Macabeo, Garnacha Roja and Pansa, a local name for Xarello. The bright yellow wine displays the waxy aromas of the Garnacha Blanca and well-integrated oak, spicy and smoky notes. The palate is fresh, straightforward, pleasant and easy to drink, but developing some complexity that hints at more than just a fruity white. A wine to follow. Drink now-2016. Acustic is a Montsant winery created in 2003 by Albert Jane from Penedes, and the name refers to “unplugged” wines, without makeup, without amplification, showing just the pure wine, in an “acoustic” way. (made from a blend of garnatxa blanca, garnatxa, macabeu and pansal, all reportedly from old vines): Pale yellow-gold. Lively, mineral-accented aromas of dried citrus fruits, pear and honeysuckle. Fleshy and dry on the palate, offering refreshingly bitter pear skin and ginger candy flavors and hints of toasty lees and honey. Closes with firm grip and cut, leaving a sexy floral note behind. This will be extremely flexible at the table.
