Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Echézeaux Grand Cru has an earthy, undergrowth-scented bouquet, bold and glossy with underlying bacon fat aromas. It opens up nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with firm and dry tannin, rendering this a "serious" Echezeaux that needs to forage for more tension and animation. There is decent length here but it feels a little dry and animally on the finish. Tasted September 2016.
