The 2004 Montecucco Sangiovese, a blend of predominantly Sangiovese with small amounts of Merlot and Syrah from the Montecucco district in Maremma, is richer, and weightier than the Rosso di MOntalcino, expressing the warmth of its microclimate as well as a subtle use of barrique in its more intense color, sweet dark fruit, toasted oak and licorice flavors. It offers much length on the palate and plenty of style. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2010.
