The 1991 Gevrey-Chambertin-Lavaux St.-Jacques is super-ripe and highly extracted. The deep purple color and smoky, chocolatey, cassis-scented nose are followed by a supple, fat, ripe, lusty wine with plenty of alcohol, soft tannins, and low acidity. Drink it over the next 8-9 years. Rene Leclerc is making excellent wines and his 1991s are capable of rivaling his superb 1990s. Importer: Select Vineyards, Neal Rosenthal, New York, NY.
