D'Arenberg produces a 100% Mourvedre called The Twenty-Eight Road. This wine is outstanding. This vineyard, planted in the 1920's, has turned out Australia's version of a French Bandol. Dark ruby/purple-colored, with a floral, black raspberry-scented nose, this beautifully ripe, dense, concentrated wine offers up mushroom notes intermixed with tree bark and black fruits. Full-bodied, moderately tannic, and impressively rich, it will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring and keep for 15.Importer: Old Bridge Cellars (Rob McDonald), San Francisco, CA; tel. (415) 863-9463
