The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva offers up dark cherries, wood smoke, menthol, and spices. This is an especially dark, brooding Brunello from Collosorbo, but over time, the layers of flavor gradually fill out as the wine finds its center. There is plenty of complexity and class here, all readers need to do is be a bit patient. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.
This is a mixed set of wines from Collosorbo. While the Brunellos are both outstanding, the same can’t be said for the 2008 Rosso, which falls way short of what readers have come to expect from this property.
