Perhaps one of the best Villages wines made is Jadot's 1988 Pommard from the Cote de Beaune. In the end, the southern part of the Cote de Beaune may have had the greatest success in the 1988 vintage, and this Villages wine is truly wonderful. It is oozing with ripe red and black fruits, shows a deft touch of toasty new oak, and a lush, supple, concentrated texture with layers of super-ripe fruit in the finish. It should drink nicely for 5-6 years.

Hard-edged and herbal, with tight currant and berry notes that turn rough and tannic. Tough going from start to finish. Seems to be missing the middle core of fruit, leaving a hollow center. Drink in 1994.??–null??Region: France / Burgundy / Pommard Select to Add
