The beautiful Fattoria le Pupille 2019 Morellino di Scansano Riserva is Sangiovese cut with about 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit represents a special selection taken from the estate's classic Morellino vineyards. The Riserva sees 15 months in large oak casks and one year in bottle, giving it more time to flesh out and integrate. The wine shows rich density on the mid-palate with aromas of black cherry, spice and earth. The upcoming 2020 vintage was quite hot for a grape such as Sangiovese, and the 2021 growing season was even hotter in this corner of Maremma.
