The most ambitious white wine in the line is the 2002 Efeso, made from a grape – Mantonico – once utilized solely for dessert wines. Very tropical and honeyed on the nose with expansive, resinous mango and papaya fruit, there is much density and viscosity and an energy and freshness which belie the high alcohol and glycerine levels of the wine, already one of the most important whites of the entire south of Italy in its third year of production.
