This elegant, intensely fruity 2001 reveals good structure and purity. Although somewhat closed and muted, it is an excellent 2001 that may not yet be revealing its full personality. It should age well for 10-15 years. An ambitious project by Christian Dauriac (the proprietor of several St.-Emilion properties, most notably Destieux), this 7.5 acre vineyard, partially situated on the famous blue clay of Pomerol, is planted with 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. The wine is fermented in small, Burgundian-like, 35 hectoliter oak tanks, and enjoys malolactic in barrel. Yields are 20 hectoliters per hectare.
