The saturated dark purple-colored 1999 Cornas Renaissance is produced from young vines planted on the lower slopes. The wine displays a thick, juicy nose of cassis and blackberry fruit presented in a style similar to the 2000 Cotes du Rhone. There is acidity, earthy austerity, and tannin in the Renaissance, which should easily age for 10-12 years.
