The Collosorbo 2014 Brunello di Montalcino is being released with big production numbers. Some 60,000 bottles were made, and this wine should be easy to locate in retail outlets. That's good news because the wine is moderately priced and happily delivers a strong interpretation of what was undeniably a difficult vintage. The wine opens to a dark garnet color with fragrant tones of sweet cherry and dried blackberry. This wine delivers expressive primary fruit, and although it is not particularly complex or profound, I am impressed by how clearly the fruit is presented. There is a note of cherry or plum sweetness on the close.
