The 2000 Barbaresco, the regular (or as the house calls it, “classic”) bottling, does indeed have a classic nose of licorice and anise, complemented by light oak spices. It is round, smooth, rather up front in flavor, with good medium weight and concentration. The finish delivers some additional firmness. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2014. Very attractive aromas of blackberry, spice and black licorice. Full-bodied, with velvety, rich tannins and a long, caressing finish. Extremely well-done for the regular bottling from Prunotto.
