One of the better 2008s readers will find is the 2008 Chateauneuf du Pape from Vincent Durieu. This is a wine made from 65% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and the rest Mourvedre and Counoise, aged completely in cement tanks. This medium-bodied wine offers up loads of black cherry fruit and has a fresh, lively feel to it, with good depth and richness. It should drink nicely for another 4-5 years.
This estate has been making seriously good wine over the last five or six years, and has raised its performance level dramatically.
