The 2006 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Salco Evoluzione is a gorgeous, complete wine. Layers of dark cherries, tobacco, incense and new leather emerge from the glass, filling out the wine’s broad shouldered frame nicely. The tannins are firm, yet there is more than enough richness in the fruit to provide balance. This is a big Salco that will require a few years in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021.
