The 1990 Cuvee la Cote Ronde is a wine that has obviously seen some aging in new oak casks. The opaque ruby/purple color, multidimensional nose of black fruits, minerals, and toasty vanillin, and the full-bodied, gloriously extracted flavors of chocolate, herbs, and coffee generously fill the mouth. There is excellent structure, as well as a delineated feel to the wine. As with most Chateauneuf du Papes, it can be drunk now or cellared safely for 10-12 plus years.
