It often has an abundance of pain grille and smoky, oaky notes in its youth, but that has all been integrated into the wine at age 12. This wine is fully mature, displaying beautiful, sweet notes of black currants, kirsch, lavender, Provencal herbs, and a subtle hint of graphite. It is full-bodied, opulent, and ideal for drinking over the next 4-5 years, as it is not going to get any better.
I believe this was the debut vintage for this wine, which is a modern Chateauneuf du Pape with some part of the cuvee aged in small new oak.
