The 2000 Hermitage Le Reverdy Estate (Ferraton’s top white wine offering) possesses rose petal, spice, cinnamon, and honeysuckle characteristics, medium to full body, and fine acidity. As the wine sat it the glass, a pumpkin-like scent emerged. A barrique-aged blend of two-thirds Marsanne and one-third Roussanne, it should drink well for 10-12 years.
Ferraton’s wines are made under the auspices of Michel Chapoutier and his talented oenologist, Alberic Mazoyer. Two levels of quality are offered, the negociant cuvees (made from purchased wines and/or grapes) and the single vineyard estate offerings.
