The estate’s 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 123 is penalized by hard tannins that keep the fruit from emerging fully. Roasted coffee beans, prunes, tobacco and licorice meld into the finish. This is another wine that is likely to never be fully in balance, as the fruit will fade before the tannins soften, something that has already begun to happen. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2017.
