Tasted at the Trotanoy dinner at Sketch in London. Great Pomerol vintage—great Trotanoy? You bet. This bottle of 1964 Trotanoy delivers on all its promise. It has a very intense bouquet with dark plum, dark cherry and a hint of eucalyptus—extravagant but not showy—and retains stupendous delineation. The palate is incredibly youthful and vigorous with scintillating brambly black fruit, melted tar, mint and a hint of dark chocolate. It is extraordinarily complex and retains its rounded, "spherical," generous finish that lacquers the mouth. This is one of the finest 1964 Pomerol wines that I have encountered. Tasted September 2012.
