The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Molino del Piano opens to moderate intensity with savory notes of dried cherry, smoke and cured leather. This wine shows an earthy or gamey element that peeks though the dark fruit aromas in this sunny vintage. However, like the other wines from Bonacchi, the mouthfeel is thin and easy (hinting at perhaps over-cropping in the vineyard), which could work well with a dish of porchetta and roasted cauliflower. This Brunello ends on a sweet note of cherry liqueur. Some 40,000 bottles were produced.
