The 1986 Trotte Vieille has a deep ruby color, and a relatively well-developed and forward, big, plummy, herbaceous bouquet that displays a considerable measure of smoky oak. On the palate, the wine is tannic, oaky, full bodied, and concentrated. One might ask for a bit more complexity from one of the very top vineyards in St.-Emilion. Anticipated maturity: Now-2008. Last tasted, 3/90.
