Marcoux's 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is predominantly Roussanne, with the balance a blend of Bourboulenc and Clairette. It's slightly honeyed on the nose, with notes of ripe peach and pear. Aged in a mix of demi-muids and stainless steel, it's full-bodied, rich but balanced, with hints of toasted grain, citrus and salted licorice helping maintain focus through the long, mouthwatering finish. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes.

The 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc comes from the domaine's single hectare of white grapes, planted to 80% Roussanne and 20% Bourboulenc. One-third is fermented in demi-muids, while the rest goes into stainless steel. Pineapple and guava notes appear on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is clean and crisp, with a fresh, zesty finish.

Hints of honeyed toast mark the nose of the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc. A fifth of the wine fermented and aged in demi-muid, while the rest was in stainless steel. Full-bodied, round, soft and rich with peach and pineapple fruit, it comes together on the finish into lime-like precision.

This biodynamically run estate has only one hectare of white grapes. The 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is roughly 70% Roussanne and 30% Bourboulenc, although Sophie Armenier did admit that there's probably some Grenache Blanc and Clairette as well. One batch of Roussanne was fermented in a single oak barrel, while all of the other grapes went into stainless steel. Honeyed pineapple on the nose is focused and channeled by vibrant lime flavors on the medium to full-bodied palate, drawing to a long, briny finish.

Looking first at their white and one of the richer, more textured releases from the Armenier sisters, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc (65% Roussanne, 25% Clairette and the rest Grenache Blanc and Bourboulenc, vinified in barrel and aged in stainless steel) offers rounded, layered notes of white peach, citrus and mint in a medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured style on the palate. This beauty will shine with food over the coming 3-4 years
