Cantemerle's 1994is deep ruby-colored with purple nuances, offering sweet berry fruit in the nose, along with new oak and weedy notes. In the mouth, the wine reveals moderate concentration and good body for the vintage, but a dry, angular personality with astringent tannin in the finish. It is a gamble whether this wine will ever shed enough tannin to come into complete harmony, but it is well made, and may turn out to be surprisingly attractive. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2008.
