The 2010 Beaune Bressandes is an attractive, generous wine laced with black cherries, tar, licorice, spices and violets. Underlying notes of minerality support the fruit through to the intense finish. There are some elements of wildness that appear in the glass, but they don't materially detract from the wine's energy and focus. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020.
Domaine des Croix is just around the corner from Camille Giroud, where winemaker David Croix is also in charge. The Domaine des Croix wines are typically made in a forward, fruit-driven style. Although the wines can age, my preference is to drink them on the young side. In 2010, yields came in around 20-25 hectoliters, very low by any measure. I tasted most of the 2010s from barrel, except as noted.
