The 1997 Condrieu Clos Chanson (from a 1.25 acre parcel overlooking the village of Chavanay) exhibits the textbook peach/apricot/acacia flower scents of a top quality Condrieu. It is full-bodied, with terrific fruit intensity, a luscious, unctuous texture, and a powerful, long, ripe, exotic finish. It will not make "old bones," but for drinking over the next several years, this is a dazzling Condrieu. Andre Perret makes brilliant Condrieu, as evidenced by this wine.
