From a reconditioned bottle, the 1959 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvée Vieilles Vignes exhibited striking aromas of ripe plums, confit orange, incense, rich spices, licorice and smoked meats. Full-bodied, fleshy and textural, it's sumptuous and enveloping, with the breadth and volume typical of the vintage, concluding with a long, rose-inflected finish.
